Photo Study

Was really frustrated with my work last night so a friend suggested to just do a photo study. I did and it really helped me relax.

I found the original image on Pinterest so I don’t know much about it unfortunately.

Hobbit Pony

This is my first card that I did for the Lord of the Rings card game. I made this about a year ago and I just got it in the mail the other day. So exciting to see it in person!

I’m on Vacation! Crazy!

I haven’t been on a real vacation since I was a child, so this trip to Europe is pretty exciting for me. Right now I’m in Aalborg, Denmark, enjoying the calm vibes, awesome old buildings, way over-priced food, and the medieval festival that’s happening here right now. I will definitely be taking lots of reference photos and hopefully I’ll have a chance to break in my new sketchbook as well 🙂

I’ve been commissioned to paint some ships. I might be doing a few of them. Here’s what I’ve got so far. Some sketches and studies:

Visiting VanCAF

I got to check out the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival last weekend and it was pretty cool. It’s a smaller event (compared to FanExpo) so it was really nice to get to talk to lots of the artists. Many of them are locals as well. I’m not super big into comics (mainly because I just never had a chance to go down that road), but it was still exciting and very inspiring to see what people are making. The most inspiring thing was that people are putting together whole volumes of stories even if their art isn’t necessarily the best. They don’t let that stop them! And the end product still comes out really cool. I guess it’s an excellent example of “don’t get hung up on the quality of your art, just make what you’re passionate about!”
